BIOGRAPHY

Suriya Allain began dancing at the age of seven in Rochester, New York. She grew up training in tap, jazz, and ballet at the Little Red Dance Studio, which is a local competitive and recreational dance studio that is owned and operated by her mother, Lisa Allain. Lisa is one of Suriya’s main teachers that shaped her into the artist and dancer that she is today. Throughout her training at Little Red, Suriya has gained experience in many other genres of dance, some of which include musical theater, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, ballroom, and pointe. She spent a great deal of her education learning choreography from guest artists that were brought into the studio. Some of these individuals include Jason Parsons, Alicia Monaco, Ethan Colangelo, and Chantelle Good. Suriya’s dedication to dance led her to The Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she is a graduating senior contemporary dance major in the Class of 2025. She has had the opportunity to learn and perform many works from a wide range of internationally celebrated choreographers. Some of these works include We Too Are Coded by Jennifer Archibald, Complex Monsters by Joe González, In the Mist of Ebb by Kurt Douglas, Snatched Back From the Edges by Dwight Rhoden, and The Closest To the Sun by Norbert De La Cruz III. At the conservatory, Suriya has been introduced to a wide range of styles and techniques that have truly transformed her trajectory within the artform. Some of these include Limón, Graham, Horton, Ballet and Modern Partnering, African, and Dance Composition. Suriya is working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and is looking forward to the opportunities that are to come in the future.
